What is Ghee And What Are its Benefits?

What is Ghee and why is it used?

Known as “golden liquid” in Ayurveda, Ghee occurs when we boil milk solids from unsalted butter. I prefer the organic, grass-fed, non-GMO butter type.

We know that we all need our immune system and our energy to get a boost; we call it “ojas” in Ayurveda. One food that helps build ojas is ghee.

Because the milk solids are removed in Ghee, many of my clients who have an allergy or reaction to lactose or casein don't care at all about the gem of Ayurveda.

Ghee is the perfect fat. You can cook with it at a very high point. Its very high flash point is 485 degrees Fahrenheit. To be compared to 405 F for a very high quality extra virgin olive oil. This makes it one of the best cooking oils on the market!

In Ayurveda, we use Ghee internally and externally. We are having great success both ways. Internally it is used as an amazing fat. It helps lubricate the colon in order to expel stool and helps nourish all tissues in the body. We use it for the eyes, nose, mouth oil and skin. And if you ever try it: it's so good! We suggest you cook with and / or add it to your favorite dishes and vegetables. It is the perfect replacement for butter.

It has been shown to be a good support for your good (HDL) and less good (LDL) cholesterol, it reduces fatty tissue and hunger, it helps good bacteria to grow and block bad ones, and to regulate them. abnormal stools to name a few.

You can keep your Ghee in your kitchen cabinet (where it is dry and dark). We strongly suggest that you use clean utensils each time (no double soaking) in order to keep the beautiful golden liquid for longer. At Svasti, we do it the traditional way, under a full moon, with traditional colors, beautiful prayers and songs.

In the clinic, it is used with spices and / or herbs to give the tissues medical qualities and it works! Customers just don't like the taste, but the result is there.

Are you ready to try it? Come visit us, it will be a pleasure to let you try the golden liquid!

Namaste!
