About Ayurveda

Ayurveda: the knowledge of life.

Ayurveda is a medicine that has its origin in India. It is the oldest continually practiced health system in the world. Scripture says it is between 5,000 to 10,000 years old. "Ayur" means life in Sanskrit (the language of ancient India) and "Veda" means knowledge.

In Ayurveda, the Mind, the physical Body, and the Spirit are all connected! When they are all aligned there is harmony in the body & the mind when they are imbalance their symptoms or disease in the mind and or the body.

In Ayurveda medicine, the client is in the driving seat! We help with what Ishwari likes to call "a roadmap"!

Through the form of lifestyle, food choices, herbs, body therapy, meditation, and yoga, sound, touch color therapy, and aromatherapy, we help to bring back harmony in the client's life.

In Ayurveda medicine, the five elements are at the base of everything: space (ether), the air, the fire, the water and the earth. Out of those elements, there also exists the qualities and their opposite qualities. Out of those, we all are made of 3 doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

In Ayurveda, the digestive system is the root of all disease so it's important to regulate it. Digestion of the thoughts, the food and our life as a whole and not as a singular item.

Ayurveda and yoga are sister sciences. They often practice together through asanas (exercised) and meditation (dhyana). Ishwari, being a Registered Yoga instructor, can help design a yoga session depending on the doshas involved to help to balance the nadis (channel, flow) in the body and the mind.
